Insurgent Magazine #8
The Insurgent Newspaper is a Rebel News Media publication posted weekly, bringing you some of the best columns from the RNM. Continue reading to see content from the Art, Facts, People, Polls, and Stories columns!
Every week the Art Column chooses a piece of art from the art channel in the RF Discord server to feature here!
The Stories column will release prompts as a writing contest. The winner will be featured in the Insurgent Newspaper and receive a Tatsumaki Credit prize! The following prompt gives you the plot of the story you need to follow. The winner will be announced next week so be sure to hand your entries to Cassie or Queenieliz.
The prompt: Write a story about a secret agent whose identity is exposed by their enemies.
The People column publishes interviews with RF staff and members weekly. This week we interviewed former RPF Leader Junie.
RNM: Hello Junie, thank you for letting me interview you today! I’ll get us started with a question about you – reflecting back on your time leading RPF, what did you learn?
Junie: Thank you for having me here! I learned that the connection I have with troops and the personality I display can really determine whether or not a person feels wanted and comfortable. If you have a leader that enjoys talking with each troop, people will feel more inclined to stay as a result.
RNM: Wise words! You are an icon to the RF after all, and so I would expect no less from you. Do you have a story from when you were a leader that stands out to you?
Junie: Not particularly, although I do recall trolling a lot of other army leaders with the High Command of that time.
RNM: Sounds like a lot of fun! Now that you’ve retired, how has your retirement been?
Junie: Quite cozy. I’m just chillin’ in here with all the other battle-hardened veterans of previous ages. How sad there isn’t a saga for us.
RNM: That seems like a perfect retirement. Moving away from RF, how has your time as a strong Super Smash Bros. player been and how do you train to get better?
Junie: It has been rather interesting. I’m attempting to get a few more characters I regularly play into the Elite Smash (I’ll explain this Smash jargon; essentially it’s a mode in online play that can be unlocked once a person reaches a certain number in the online ranking system). Training to get better is simply playing a lot of matches and analyzing what I need to work on to sharpen my skills. I’ve faced a lot of skilled opponents, and with each one I face I learn something new and adapt to overcome.
RNM: That’s great! I hope you can get into the Elite Smash. As we’re coming to an end, I’d like to ask – is there any piece of advice you would like to pass onto troops?
Junie: Present yourself more if you’re seeking to reach the top. It’s not just about this organization, it’s about how you place yourself within the community and the connections you establish and build from it. I’ve met some really awesome people here and even after retirement I am continuing to do so. In a way, my story here is still moving along.
RNM: Thank you for your wise words and a great interview!
Junie: My pleasure.
That concludes the interview with Junie – thanks to Brownboy for interviewing him.
