As part of a series of updates this month, the Administration is excited to announce a major feature upgrade for the Rebel Cash Economy system on RF Discord servers.
The Economy Goes Global
Since 2020, many RF Discords use the Rebel Bot. Which is a custom made bot that helps run our communities and their various Discords. The Rebel Bot has a multitude of features, one of which is the ability to assign members Rebel Cash. “RC” is often earned by attending RF Events or earning it from having merit based roles (for example, the recent Ranks Update includes weekly RC payouts per your Member Rating), and it can be used to purchase custom seasonal or rare roles, many of which also have modifiers that can increase the RC earned. Now, all of this has always been within the context of the Discord in which the economy has been deployed.
Most RF Discords use the Rebel Bot, and some of those have the Rebel Bot’s Economy. The RC you earned would always stay within the Division, and could only be spent within that Division. This brings us to the update:
Rebel Cash will now be transferable between RF Discord servers.
Basically, this means Rebel Cash earned in one Division can be transferred to another Division’s Discord server. Allowing you to use your Rebel Cash in another Division’s server, or in the Hub! Rebel Cash also earned in the Hub from your Member Rating can be transferred back to your Division of choice, allowing you to utilize your RC with the main Discord you frequent. We’re hoping this update not only opens up opportunities for our broader economy, but allows our membership to get more out of what you do within the entirety of the RF network.
Rebel Cash Transfer Rates – Explained
One major implication of transferring RC between Discord servers is that not all economies are created equal. Some Divisions give out a lot of RC very frequently. Others give it out very rarely. The overall amount of RC in a Division that members have may wildly differ from server to server. Due to this, the RF Command has been able to set transfer rates dependent on aspects of each Division’s economy. Which means some Divisions may have RC that’s worth a lot more than other Discords, allowing for your RC to go much further if earned from specific Divisions. The inverse is also true, economies that are flooded with RC may have less global buying power.
The simplest way to understand this is the following: All Rebel Cash earned in the Hub is equal to 1. When you transfer it from the Hub into another Division, the Hub’s RC will either give you more or less RC, based on aspects of that Division’s economy. How much can be calculated via the Global Transfer Rates, outlined below:
Current Rates as of 11/30/2024:
- Rebel Federation Hub => Transfer Rate: 1.0000
- Literature Division =>Transfer Rate: 1.6181
- Rebel Penguin Federation => Transfer Rate: 0.1054
- Call of Duty Division => Transfer Rate: 0.0565
Transfer Examples:
- Key Example: If you’ve recently joined the Rebel Federation Hub server, and have a Member Rating of Member Grade: You would receive 250 Rebel Cash as a Promotion Bonus, and then a Weekly Payout of 50 Rebel Cash. In your first week, if you were to transfer 300 RC to the RPF Discord, it would be worth 2846 RC in the Rebel Penguin Federation.
- The Rebel Bot has the ability to automatically calculate the transfer when the transfer is performed, but you can do the math yourself with the following knowledge:
- For transferring to a Division whose rate is greater than the Division (or Hub) you’re transferring from, take the amount of RC you intend to transfer and multiply it by the respective rate. (Example: 100 RC Hub x Literature’s 1.6181 rate = 161.81 RC Lit)
- For transferring to a Division whose rate is less than the Division (or Hub) you’re transferring from, take the amount of RC you intend to transfer and divide it by the respective rate. (Example: 161.81 RC Lit / RPF’s 0.1054 rate = 1,535.19 RC RPF)
Global Economic Factors & Conditions
- The Rebel Federation Hub’s RC will always be equal to 1. This serves as a central reference point for each Division, and a full calculation is used to determine the rate of transfer for each Division.
- The Transfer Rate calculation considers the following factors:
- How much RC is in circulation in a Division’s economy.
- How many members hold RC in a Division’s economy.
- The average member’s holdings of RC in a Division’s economy.
- How much RC a Division gives out for Events per week.
- The average amount of RC a Division gives out via roles per week.
- The average RC multiplier used for events and payouts in a Division.
- The average of all work modifiers.
- The average amount of times .work commands a Division’s members can run per day.
- Based on these 8 parameters, which are ever changing, a Division’s transfer rate can be less or more compared to the Hub.
- Division’s can change their transfer rate overtime by creating economic policy. Divisions with more valuable rates will likely attract more membership, resulting in more earnings to more members, which in turn will inflate their currency. Divisions with less valuable rates are likely to work to constrain the currency being made, and will increase role prices or create donation drives to eject RC in circulation, which in turn leads to deflation.
- New Divisions, due to having a smaller economy with less members, will usually benefit from a more valuable RC. The higher value RC will hopefully incentivize members to get involved in new Divisions with new Economies.
- New Command Team Members will benefit from being paid with relevant RC. Being able to contribute elsewhere in the Federation should be rewarded, and we’re glad RC can now be used anywhere members would want to use it.
- Transfer Rates will be recalculated from time to time by the RF Command, who’s job is to ensure a healthy global economic condition. Division Commanders can additionally request, at anytime, for their Transfer Rate to be recalculated.
Important News to Know:
- Priority News: Call of Duty Division’s RC will not be transferable yet. Divisions can opt to reset their economy, which has both advantages and disadvantages. Due to their inflated currency, the Division Commanders are favoring a reset.
- Not all Divisions with the Rebel Bot currently have the Economy setup.
How to Transfer Rebel Cash Between Discord Servers
Whew, that was a lot to get through. If you made it this far (or skipped down here, I don’t blame you)– you’ll be glad to know that the easiest part of transferring RC are the Rebel Bot commands.
To transfer, you have to transfer your “local” Rebel Bot balance to the “global” Rebel Bot balance, then go to the destination Division, and transfer from the global balance to the local balance. Illustrated as follows:
Local Balance [Origin Discord] <-> Global Balance <-> Local Balance [Destination Discord]
Note: The Global Balance and Hub both are equal to 1. You will not notice a conversion from Hub to the Global Balance, but you will from a Division to and from the Global Balance.
Note: Due to rounding in transfers, it may appear like a few RC are lost in some transfers. This isn’t the case. If the RC is taken back to its point of origin, it should always still be the same amount initially transferred.
Please perform the following commands in the respective Division’s Bot channel.
- Check your Global Balance with .gbal
- Check the Global Leaderboard with .glb
- Check your Local Balance with .bal
- Transfer RC to the Global Balance with .ccon tg <amount>
- Transfer RC to the Local Balance with .ccon tl <amount>
- For help, use .help with the Rebel Bot.
The Economic Wrap Up
This update opens up a lot of new opportunities for the Rebel Federation community at large. We hope that RC can take on a more vital role in the overall reconstruction effort of our Federated network of Discords. With this economic development, combined with the Ranks Update, we are rewarding involvement more than ever.
